  • Overview

    The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), operated by Princeton University for the Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking a results-driven Space Coordinator to assist in the facilitation of space planning.  The ideal candidate would be equipped to coordinate and communicate effectively with end-users, stakeholders and other subject matter experts.   The daily activities include the coordinate of office and lab moves, working with department staff and supervisors to find creative ways to increase space utilization, support space needs for various projects, and maintain all sitewide space management data.

    Responsibilities

    This position will focus on two main core duties:

    • Actively maintain the space management portfolio for PPPL.                     
    • Maintain the sitewide space management database.
    • Coordinate moves and office conversions to meet the demands of an ever-changing campus.     
    • Work with colleagues across the PPPL campus to identify and resolve space needs for personnel and equipment.
    • Coordinate both single and multi-office moves to increase utilization and support projects.
    • Meet with members of every department to discuss projected space needs and maintain a current catalog for campus planning.
    • Independently perform annual space evaluations of every location on campus, determining usage percentage, owner department, space type classification, and occupancy.
    • Integrate the space management program with the PPPL lock core program and track changes.
    • Maintain the data integrity of Archibus, the PPPL space management software, by working with CAD to update the floorplans, room type, occupancy, etc. 
    • Update CAD background drawings whenever building modifications occur relating to space.
    • Follow all lab safety rules and regulations and use protective equipment to prevent injury.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
    • Associate or Bachelor Degree in a business or related field is preferred, but applicable work experience will be considered.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Minimum two years experience with performing space management or related duties.
    • Experience with CAD drawing software and polylining preferred.
    • Ability to work productively with customers from a variety of fields and backgrounds.
    • Experience planning and coordinating the logistics of moves, including dozens of personnel and equipment, to support tight project schedules.
    • Proficient with computer use, specifically spreadsheets and Google Drive.
    • Experience with the basics of Maximo CMMS a plus.
    • Display meticulous attention to detail with floorplans, spreadsheets, and information system data.

    Physical Requirements:

    Work includes sitting at a desk for long stretches of time, climbing ladders, lifting up to 25 lbs, working in confined spaces, working in awkward positions.
