Overview

We are seeking a motivated and curious intern to join our team in advancing diagnostics for laser-plasma experiments. In this role, you will contribute to the design and testing of diagnostic systems for high-energy laser experiments and assist with data analysis from cutting-edge facilities such as LaserNetUS and the European XFEL. You will help analyze experimental data to study ion transport in plasmas and warm dense matter—key areas for advancing inertial fusion energy research. Additionally, you will gain hands-on experience in diagnostic calibration while working alongside scientists from national laboratories. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop skills at the intersection of plasma physics, fusion energy, and high-energy-density diagnostics.

A U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory managed by Princeton University, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) is tackling the world’s toughest science and technology challenges using plasma, the fourth state of matter. With more than 70 years of history, PPPL is a leader in the science and engineering behind the development of fusion energy, a potentially limitless energy source. PPPL is also using its expertise to advance research in the areas of microelectronics, quantum sensors and devices, and sustainability sciences. Whether it be through science, engineering, technology or professional services, every team member has an opportunity to contribute to our mission and vision. Come join us!
