  • Overview

    The Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory, a world renowned fusion energy research center, under contract with the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE), has an opening for a Staff Accountant in the Accounting Division.   Reporting to the Manager of General Accounting and Payroll, this position will be responsible for distribution of payroll and payroll related cost.  This position will also perform other accounting tasks including account analysis and invoice processing.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensures that all data and electronic processing of gross payrolls and their distribution in the PPPL cost accounting system is completed on time and in accordance with PPPL and University policies.
    • Prepares reconciliation of Main Campus and PPPL payroll data.
    • Prepares and maintains labor related reports for the DOE, Main Campus, PPPL, the Head of Accounting and Laboratory management in a timely and professional manner.
    • Prepares special analyses with respect to payroll costs and payroll related matters.
    • Perform financial analyses of various balance sheet accounts to ensure that subsidiary records are accurate and that they support the general ledger account balances.

    Qualifications

    1.  Degree in Accounting. A strong record of academic achievement preferred.
    2.  3 plus years experience in accounting, payroll related experience is a plus.
    3. Other:
    • Ability to work independently and complete assignments on time.
    • Ability to effectively set priorities, to exercise initiative, and utilize good judgment.
    • Analytical and problem solving skills; ability to accurately perform quantitative analyses.
    • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of personnel.
    • Sensitive to working with confidential information.
    • Ability and desire to grow professionally, and to assume more responsibility over time.
