  • Overview

    Princeton University’s Plasma Physics Laboratory has an opening within its Information Technology Department for an Application Development Team Lead.  This person will be responsible for leading the Application Development team and implementation of a very diverse suite of applications.  Responsibilities include development of web based and business applications, business systems technical support, and managing the successful delivery of projects.  This person will also coordinate the Application Development team to ensure rapid, accurate, and efficient processing of the Laboratory's workload. The successful candidate should have 5+ years experience in application development including experience with ASP.Net/C#, VBScript, HTML5, PHP, JavaScript, Objective-C, Swift, and Java.

    Responsibilities

    • Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
    • Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
    • Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web and desktop based business applications.
    • Work directly with the user community to collect requirements, develop mockups, build solutions, test and deploy final products in alignment with user needs.
    • Capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code level
    • Prepare documentation and reports on maintenance of applications.
    • Participate in peer reviews of solution designs.
    • Work with teammates in the migration of legacy applications to current technologies.
    • Analyze and resolve technical issues with applications.
    • Provide end user technical support.
    • Reviews daily activities and reports to detect recurring or abnormal computing issues.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves complex software and operating system issues.
    • Periodically call meetings with customers to ensure high level of customer satisfaction.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Strong multitasking skills
    • Strong working knowledge of developing and maintaining applications in ServiceNow or similar ITSM
    • Ability to create detailed technical documentation, project reports and procedures
    • Experience in multi-platform support (Windows, Mac, Linux)
    • Proficient in ASP.Net/C#, VBScript, HTML5, PHP, JavaScript, Objective-C, Swift, Java
    • Experience developing and maintaining databases in Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access, MySQL and related platforms
    • Must be able to work independently
    • Experience working with frameworks, templates and popular design techniques to create a standardized experience for the application users
    • Strong working knowledge of APIs and SDKs related to popular software such as Google Apps, ServiceNow, and CrashPlan
    • Experience writing Crystal Reports against MSSQL databases using SQL Stored Procedures within the reports
    • Must be familiar with applications such as Great Plains or PeopleSoft
    • General knowledge of ITIL service strategies and CRMs
